In winter Chilika aflutters with thousands of indigenous and migratory birds of many varieties from far and near - even from the distant Siberia. The fabulous beauty of Chilika which has inspired poets to sing its glory and which can be best enjoyed from Balugaon, Barkul, Rambha and Satpada must be seen to be believed.

Eight kilometres to the south of the city of Bhubaneshwar, the gently-rolling coastal plains of Orissa are marked by a cluster of low hillocks. This place is called Dhauligiri or Dhauli.

Ratnagiri in the fertile Birupa river valley, 90 kms from Bhubaneshwar, was a great centre of Vajrayana Buddhist till the 12th century and the Mahavihara of Ratnagiri played a great role in the development of the Kalachakratantra during the 10th century.

Archaeological museum at Ratnagiri is one of the important site museums of archaeological Survey of India.The Museum consists of four big galleries with a long stepped corridor displayed with sufficient number of antiquates, mainly related to tartaric Buddhism.

Bhitarkanika is a hot-spot of biodiversity. It`s home to largest population of giant salt water crocodile in India.

Chandipur : Shaded by screwpine, casew and fir trees Chandipur is lovely for a short tour. The quiet and serene beach charms visitors. Extending 5 km from the shore this shallow-water beach has a speciality; during ebb tide cars ride over the sands.

Cactus garden situated close to the `Ekamara Kanan` in Bhubaneswar, the Cactus Garden, with its huge collection of Cactii should not be missed.

Sanghagara Waterfall, 30 mt high and lying about 5 kms from Keonjhar, is the most popular picnic spot of the region.

The majestic waterfall, also known as “Matsya Tirtha” falls from a height of 175 meters. A hydro - electric project with its winch developed amidst deep greenery is a place for pleasure.
