Kalijai Temple

Kalijai temple is situated on an island or you can say a Hill. It is about 18 K.M. away from Balugan in south east direction, the residence of the Goddess Kalijai.Kalijai means Kali + Jai , Kali, the Goddess Kali and Jai a name of a village Girl of Banapur , who was drowned there during her visit to Parikuda Gada for her Marriage. An accidental storm with deep black cloud was drowned her traditional boat there near the hill and vanished. All the Boatmen with her father were alive except that Girl Jai undiscovered!!! Since then many boat men have been listened her low voice during early in the evening there and she became the adorable Goddess of the locality and became respected among Odiya People. Most of the Fisherman Community is worshiping Goddess KaliJai as their “Istha Devi”, Istha means who manages all of Istha (Good) and Anistha (Bad) times. Most of the home tourists know that visit to KaliJai is that’s all to visit Chilika.

Panchalingeswar

Ensconced in the verdant environs of Nilagiri, the five lingams at Panchalingeswar, the revered venue for numerous devotees, are bathed by the iridescent and sparkling waters of a perennial stream. Legend has it that these lingams were installed in this beautiful abode by King Banasura himself because of the serenity and beauty of its surrounding environs. A place 32 km from Balasore on hill top surrounded with beauty of woods. A place of choice of nature lovers and deep thinkers.

Vaital Temple

Vaital Temple in Bhubaneswar is replete with the symbols of human sacrifice and steeped in some exclusive temple sculptures that exhibit eroticism. The temple dates back to the 18th century and has a splendid architecture that is inspired by the Buddhist cave architecture and holds a special place among the holy places in Bhubanewar. This temple is one of its kinds and is dedicated to Goddess Chamundi (Kali) who, below her robes wears a necklace of skulls. The most striking aspect of this temple is that, here is a motif with sun god, Surya, which some believe became the guide or design for the eminent Sun temple in Konark. The sublime architecture captivates the tourists and offers breathtaking views of the interiors that cast a mystic charm in the minds of the tourists.

Udaigiri and Khandgiri Caves

Udaigiri and Khandgiri Caves in Bhubaneswar are counted amongst the much-famed tourist attractions in Bhubaneswar. These are the coarse sandstone caves that rise to a height of 40 meters and were modeled by the illustrious Jain king Kharavela whose period of reign extended from 168 to 153 B.C. The plain environs and the simple structure of the caves testify the life of austerity and moderation led by the Jain monks.

Hirakud Dam

Hirakud Dam is built across the Mahanadi River, about 15 km from Sambalpur in the state of Orissa in India. Built in 1956, the dam is the world`s largest earthen dam.

Lalitgiri

The earliest Buddhist complex, dating back to 1 st century A.D., has a huge brick monastery, the remains of a Shaitya hall, a number of enigmatic stupas and a relocated stone Stupa at the apex of a small rugged sand stone hill (Pushpagiri Hill), dominates the rustic greenery around.
