Situated on the eastern coast along the blue waters of the Bay of Bengal, Orissa offers to magnificent temples, sunny beaches, colourful wildlife and a rich heritage. While several temples have vanished, the great temple of Lord Jagannath at Puri is still a living and vibrant temple

10 kms. from Keonjhar on NH-6 towards Sambalpur, it is a small (200 ft. high) but exiting waterfall on the river Ghagara. It is one of the most popular picnic spots of Keonjhar district.

One of the largest nesting colonies of water birds in India is located in the mangrove forests of Bhitarkanika National Park, Orissa. Eleven species of water birds nest in this colony spreading over an area of approximately four hectare.

Queen of natural beauty, Chilika, the largest brackish water lake in Asia covering an area of over 1,100 sq. km is a great attraction for the tourists for fishing, bird watching and boating.

Satapada is one retreat in nature on Chilika Lake, recently opened up to the tourists.The thrilling sight of Dolphins round the year and abundance of migratory and resident birds in winter make Satapada a preferred lace for a vacation with nature.

Located at 186 km from Bhubaneswar, in the Ganjam district of Orrisa, the gopalpur beach is a paradise for marine lovers. An ancient sea port, Gopalpur beach gives space to a lighthouse as a small reminder of the seagoing days.

People in the similipal area are largely tribal. Due to low level of skills, lower educational levels, socio-culture traits, they are mainly dependent on local resources. They collect and sale of minor forest produces.

The unique feature of Chandipur is that, the beach slopes into the sea so gently that one can walk on it for about 3 kms towards the sea,at low tide ! Early in the morning,many people walking all the way to the sea,but surprisingly very few birds,except for a small flock of Great Egrets.

Simlipal:Covering a vast are of 2750 sq. km out of which 303 sq. km from the core area, thick biosphere reserve is a sanctuary and one of the Tiger Projects and National parks of India.

Bhitarkanika has the second largest nesting population of olive ridley turtles in the world.Their main nesting site is only 3 km in length and is a narrow, sandy island off the coast. It is a breathtaking sight to see thousands of these giant turtles sparkling in the moonlight as they heave out of the sea and clamber on to the beach.
