|
|
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved a proposal for establishment of two Specialised India Reserve Battalions in Odisha. He has also sanctioned creation of 1,042 posts of constables required for the two battalions. In a direction to the Director General of Police, Patnaik said work for establishment of two specialised battalions should be taken up immediately. "The proposed battalions would have wings like security and engineering," Patnaik said in the direction to the Odisha Police. The purpose of raising engineering battalion was to help Naxal-hit district administrations to ensure construction of roads, culverts and bridges. The ultras used to disrupt developmental activities in remote parts of the state.
