Cuttack, 3 JAN: Matriculation Examination, 2010 of Orissa Board would begin from 12 March.
This was announced by the State Board of Secondary Education (BSE) secretary Mr NR Mohapatra here yesterday.
The final time table for the examinations for both regular and ex-regular students would be published on Monday, Mr Mohapatra said.
The board this year is planning to give at least a day or two days gap between the papers to allow the students to prepare in a better manner for important subjects like Mathematics, Science and Social Studies, he said.
Like other national Boards, the results of Orissa Matriculation examinations would be published in the first week of June so that students wanting to pursue higher studies in other boards can get the opportunity in time, he said.
The Board secretary further said that the form fill-up for the examinations would begin from 12 January and continue till 16 January. However, applications would also be received after 16 January till 23 January with fine, he added.
This year an expected five lakh students are going to sit for the Matriculation examinations both in regular and ex-regular stream, sources added.
It has also been decided that the examination centres would be fixed in such a way that no student would be required to travel more than five km from his or her school to reach the centre.
Barring some mountainous terrains in some districts of the State, this rule would be strictly followed, the board secretary added.
The board this year has decided to reintroduce the elite squad at zonal level to check the malpractices during the examination.
